{{What is the difference between SAE 90 and 80W90. I am also wondering what the term hypoid means}}
Hypoid refers to the cut of the gears. The 80W90 refers to the temperature range of the oil. In winter weather (0°F) it acts like 80 weight oil in viscosity. In warmer weather (32° and above) it acts like 90 weight would. In other words, it doesn't thicken at lower temperatures like straight weight gear lube.
