Sun Tach repair

Does anyone know of a company or individual who can repair a sun tach transmitter? I bought one from ebay and the single battery was all crusty but the terminals cleaned up ok. I hooked it all up but no joy. I used a AA battery instead of the hard to find 1.35 volt battery. Several folks have said the AA will be fine. I know there are places who will rebuild them and convert them over to 12 volts, but I think I would have to sell the truck to pay for that, then I wouldnt need the gauge!
