I mounted the mechanism and window to the plates first,(with the spacers in place) then mounted the whole assembly to the side of the truck... although getting the window frame into the channels was difficult with this method.

I didn't make any notes in my restoration log, so 2-1/2 years removed... I'm not certain. The spacers do go on the inside between the mechanism and plate though.
