I've had great luck with my 95 Ram 360. I run Mobil 1 oil in it and I run 91 octane gas. Its bone stock. I dont have the dreaded ping problem (as long as I run 91 gas). Its always been consistant in the MPG. When I was doing a 100mile commute every day on a 4 lane running 70mph it got 15mpg. No better or worse. Long haul interstate trips of 400miles+ it will get 17-18MPG everytime. Hook my flat bed car trailer to it and its 13mpg. I have towed my 71 Charger 3 times with it. It got 13mpg 2 of those trips and one leg of a 3rd trip it got 10mpg and I was bucking a nasty headwind.
My 95 Ram 360 wont pull like a Cummins and it dont pull like my 74 D200 with a 440 but the 360 will do the job when asked to do it.
Last of the hydraulic shift auto's and a 360. Last of the old school my 95 is. I dont think I will get rid of it anytime soon. Worth more to me now to keep it then get rid of it. Couldnt get squat for a trade in or sell out right now. No one in the world but the crazy people on this forum wants an old Dodge truck like my 74. So I will just keep it too! (I am one of the crazy people!)
They work good as a pair. Trips and nice driving for the 95 and the 74 440 does the work. 35grand for a new 1ton Cummins will buy a lot of gas for the 440! ;)
