Your story reminds me of one, although less lethal. My mother got polio in the mid 50s and was in a wheelchair since before I was born. One time in the 70s, in the middle of a bunch of airline hijackings around the country we went to pick someone up at the airport. We were sitting at the gate waiting for the plane to come in when one of the tires on her wheelchair decided to blow. It sounded like a gun going off. I kid you not, the entire crowd hit the ground and security came running. Pretty exciting for a minute there. I was about the only one who thought it was funny, but thats a teenagers homor I guess.
