Not exactly a Power Wagon snow plowing story but... About nine years ago we had a really good snow fall with high winds that drove especially large drifts across the North-South roads in Northern Lapeer County, Michigan. Since Power Wagons love a good challenge we fired up the 1958 W300M Swivel Frame and spent the afternoon bashing through the snowdrifts and leaving tracks in otherwise untraveled roads. Arriving back near the barn the biggest, baddest snowdrift of the day presented itself, hood high and wider than the Power Wagon was long. It took a couple good suicidal runs at it to make it through but to my surprise we did make it. Now the best part with the tracks through the drift filling back in but still visible you had to know someone else would come along and try the same thing so we put the Power Wagon back in the barn and waited for what would surely be a guy in his new truck. But better still here comes the Road Commission in a large tandem axle dump with a belly plow and a load of salt charging down the road. Perfect... for us not him he hit the drift and came to a dead stop right in the middle of it. He left a good portion of his salt in the road and spent an hour and a half trying to wiggle out before a road grader came up behind him and gave him a tug. Being gun shy they both retreated. Later on the infamous snowdrift was beaten by a large tandem axle with a front mounted V-Plow. It is very gratifying to be a Power Wagon owner. That day even more so!
