Where you place the truck depends on axle location. I have a 16' pull behind and a 24' gooseneck that I built. The 16' I built in 1982 and has hauled everything 54 PW, M715's, M37's, 56 Dodge COE, etc. I have towed with 1/2 ton Dodge's 84, 94, 97, but now use a 97 3500 diesel dually. On the 16' I have been able to move it back or forward enough to get the weight where I want it.
With the 20' you should have no problem positioning it right for the right tongue weight. The 1/2 to trucks did ok here in SC where everything is pretty flat, but gets scary in the mountains with electric brakes sometimes. The one ton dually would almost let you forget the weight is back there.
i have 5200 lb axles on the 16' which is more weight than I want on that trailer,7500 lbs max is ideal.
