Scroll down and find a posting by Mark Davis. Mark is currently in Austin, TX, and looks to travel to NYC area on or about January 4th.
Mark indicates he is willing to drive a circumventional route if it worth his time. He has indicated already he may drive up to St. Louis to have a look-around. Michigan is not that much farther before he would cut back east. However, he does not have a trailer with him; you would need to provide a solution for that.
