Well after delivering Ron's A100 to him last night, I ran the last 100 miles home, and got here about 5:30pm central time.
I left December 5th at 8:30pm, so I was gone for 381 hours!
I wish I could say it was a fun and rewarding trip, but it was not.
A few highlights:
My total number of flats on my trailer since I bought it went from 3 to 6 during the trip!
I lost the pilot bushing and maybe the throwout bearing while in UT.
I had a major tune up before I left (during which they changed the thermosat, which did not need changing), before this the truck never used any coolant, on this trip I went through several gallons keeping it full.
My running partner burned up a front spindle and hub in his truck when the bearings went out.
Because of the time crunch I was under the whole time, I never had time for any junkyarding. I only got to buy parts in 3 yards, and I only looked in about 15 (most looking for the parts to fix the other tow trucks hub, so modern yards).
But I did find time to stop and see a couple people, and I saw some neat sights.
To the rest of the people I wanted to stop and see, sorry, but I was behind, and running hard the whole time. I never had any down time in a good spot, and I was always trying to get somewhere by some deadline.
I did manage to haul 6 trucks, 3 PG PWs for my buddy in CO, 1 A100 for Ron, 1 FF PW for Jonas, and the bell truck.
It is good to be home, sleep in my own bed, and let all my wounds (physical, mental, etc) heal.
I will try and post a few pictures of interesting things I found on this trip over the next couple days.
Eric
