I had a 360 ('72 version) in this van. I received a good honest 18 mpg before I converted it to 4WD, about 14-15 after that. It had an RV cam, headers, Offy dual plane with a 650 cfm Carter, a B&M shift kit and fulltime (203) 4WD. It was as areodynamic as a brick! Everything else was stock. I can't say what effect the heads will have on a 318, but it's the same block with a different stroke, so the 340 analogy may be correct.
