Mary Watt is a customer of mine. I received this email the otherday. Definately a top shelf Lady.
Dear Dennis: Remember me? The lady in Texas on the ranch with the M37
(4x4)? If you will recall, you sold me 2 engines several years ago. (The
first one was the wrong size (not my fault,DS) and second one we put in the M37 .......we
shipped the wrong size one to a ranch in Mexico 6 months later) I've
decided to get rid of the ole girl. Although she runs well, she continues
to need a little this and that mechanically, and we're cow people Dennis not
auto mechanics. I used to have a ranch manager (Phil) that was a great
shade tree mechanic. My new ranch manager (been here 2 years) is a fine cow
man, but doesn't have the ability to tinker with her. We've probably not run
the engine that you sold me more than 1000 miles. She does not have a title
(I have a Bill of Sale from the previous owner), so I have to load her on my
flatbed trailer, and take her 30 miles to the Ford Dealer near the N.M.
border to get her worked on. Just too much trouble to keep fooling with.
She's dessert sand color and has a new bench seat (navy blue made from that
special UV resistant, water proof boat upholstry material). She has an
auxillary tank for gas mounted up in her bed. We never could get trash from
the gas tank to quit fouling the engine, so we found it easier to re-route
the fuel lines and mount the aux. tank. She has her hard top. She is in
MUCH, MUCH better condition that the M-37 you have a photo of on your web
site, but she is a hard working ranch vehicle so she's not in mint
condition. She runs well, but she can sometimes be cranky to get started.
She has a winch on the front. Her tail gate is off, although I think it's
around here somewhere. She's one of those military versions made in about
1952. I would like to get $3000 for her (I paid $800 for the engine. . . .
if I remember correctly) Got any ideas on the best way to sell her or
anybody who might want her? Since you know her engine, I thought I'd ask
you first. I don't have a digital camera here at the ranch, although if you
need photos, I can have Marty take some shots and mail them to you. Thank
you, Dennis. (PS: Sounds like you are really doing what you love!
Congratulations to you.)
