Generally, you shouldn't mess with the way the winch rope feeds. That's because there is a thrust bearing on the spool shaft that takes up the force when the winch is under load (winding in). If you reverse the winch rope, so that the winch is turning the wrong way, the thrust, while winding in, is against the shaft end that is not protected by a thrust bearing. This is true in certain winches that I have known, but yours may be different. apb
