If the head is off, I am going to assume that the coolant is also drained. I had a great uncle that wooked for a utility company in the 30's. His nightly ritual with his truck was to drain the oil, water/coolant, remove the battery, and take them all inside to be left on or near the stove for the night. Next morning,he would pour the "hot" coolant back in, pour the "hot" oil in, install the battery and start the truck. I think you could safely and effectively thaw out your tractor using this method. The fluids do not have to be boiling, just good and hot. This also warms things up from the inside, which is where your ice problem probably is. Good Luck J.V.L.
