A masonry bed is usually one that either has 12" high hinged drop sides (for loading from side with forklift) or is a flatbed with sideboards that you can section the bed across with. (for hauling sand in the rear of the bed, and brick or material in the front)
I have had svereal trucks (2 tons) with this type bed when I was in the masonry business.
