Manny, copper pipe is very safe, no problems. Never, Never use PVC, its extreemly dangerous. Copper besides being much easier to work with, will help cool/condense water vapour out of the air.
Yes, proper plumbing for air, slopes, traps, filters, refrigerated dryer, all add up to
great dry and trouble free air. Water or water vapour in shop air can ruin air tools,
ruin paint jobs and just be nasty.
