C28, as noted by Chris, denotes the year and
model car the engine came from. You then have
to check and find out what, for example, a 1941
Windsor had for an engine as Chris did. Rule
of thumb: C-series are Chryslers, S-series are
Desotos, D-series are Dodges, P-series are
Plymouths, T-series are trucks. Sometimes they have a complete or partial
C.I.D. displacement like D230 sometimes a partial T 30 for 230)
(D 38 for 383-Dodge) Hope this helps in the
