In my humble opinion, and speaking from much experience, lead additives are just a waste of money and running aviation gas in a low compression engine doesn't make sense and will not make it run any better. Due to it's high octane rating, aviation gas is actually less explosive than regular unleaded, so unless your compression is so high that you have to use high octane to prevent detonation, aviation or race gas is a huge waste of money. As far as the unleaded/leaded debate goes, we have been running regular unleaded with 10% ethanol in old tractors and trucks for years with no adverse effects. 1950, 1947 Minneapolis Moline tractors; 1966, 1965, 1948, 1951 IHC trucks; 1968 Mercury Cougar. All these run fine on regular unleaded, and the trucks and tractors are used for WORK, not just parade duty. Just my 2 cents.
Dave
