Rebuilding an LU-4. One of the retainers is warped, which I understand is not uncommon. My question is can I machine out the warp and re-use the retainer, or do I need to get a new one? I understand the dynamics of the situation, I know the machining will weaken the part, but can it be swapped and the other be used at the more critical location? If replacement is called for, will a cast iron retainer from an MU-2 fit? Seems this would be a better choice for the retainer that recieves the thrust from the worm under load.
