Want to pick the brains of the experts on the forum here. The old 74 Dodge truck has developed a problem all of a sudden. Up until about 4 weeks ago the truck has been perfect.
Problem:
440 is belching oil up into the air cleaner.
Findings:
440 pulls 19 on the vacuum gauge. Steady needle.
440 starts and runs just fine. Plenty of power.
440 has NO smoke out the tailpipe. I replaced the entire PCV system including the valve and breather on the other side.
If I put it around the city streets 20-30mph its fine. If I get on the hiway is will belch oil into the air cleaner.
Any ideas? Sounds like rings are weak but pulling a good 19 and no tail pipe smoke doesnt compute in my book.
