early Dodge Engine and Trans Interchange Question

Here's one for the experts....

I'm curious to know if a engine and trans from a '46 Dodge 2wd truck will fit into a '41 Dodge WC-10 1/2 ton Carryall.

I'd guess the engine will fit right in, but be technically incorrect. Better than the International V8 that's there now. But my big question is with the transmission; is the 2wd trans the same as the 4x4 trans?

Then all I'll need to find is a transfercase and the various driveshafts for the 4x4!
