need advice on painting my truck

I have a 75 Power Wagon that I use as a daily driver and work truck. I want to paint the truck myself. This truck is solid but not a show truck by any means. I just want a paint job like a military truck. No clear coats, just a tough paint job. I have even thought of using the Herculiner stuff I used on the inside of my cab. Please help if you can!
