Take the lead from the coil and with the points in the closed position, turn the ignition switch to "ON" Hold the coil lead about 1/4 of an inch from the engine. Using a screwdriver, open the points, if no spark you probably have a bad coil lead. If you only replaced the cap and rotor, and if the parts are correct, then coil lead may be the problem. Replace with a spark plug wire and retest.
