Galen,
I put a pertronix in my last 230. Real easy to do. Called the phone number on Pertronix's web site. They wanted the distributor model info. I didn't have it, but after describing it in detail, they sent me a kit and took about 15 minutes to install. Checked and adjusted the timing and never touched it again. I stayed with a regular coil and resistor as that's what I had put in with the 12 volt conversion. I used a one wire alternator set up from VPW. Came with the brackets and everything. Used the same set up on my new 251. Brackets are the same since I used a 230 crankshaft pulley. With the one wire set-up, you don't need a regulator. You will need some other items that VPW can supply. Depending on the year of your truck, you'll need a resistor to convert the fuel sender voltage, and new light bulbs through out the truck.
The 6 volt starter and horn will work fine at 12 volts. E-mail me if you have any questions...
George
