Randy,
Your post reminded me that I wrote down some info a week and a half ago about a 1942 RD6 that is for sale here in South Carolina. Could you point me to that Cat page? I'll post the info there.
If anyone here is interested, e-mail me and I'll give you the phone number. Here's what the hand-lettered sign on the dozer said:
1942 Cat RD6
For parts
Good Running gear
bearing bad in engine
bad pony engine & radiator
$1,000
It had a phone number that I'll give to anyone who wants it and e-mails me (if you do e-mail me, put Cat RD6 in the subject line so I won't delete the message).
The dozer looked complete to me, but since this is the first one I've ever seen, well.... take that for what little it's worth.
There was a big winch behind the seat and the cables ran on a superstructure to the front to raise and lower the blade. Now you know about as much as I know about it.
I have no connection to this other than I saw it on the side of the road, thought it looked interesting and turned around to take a look at it (bet no one here has ever behaved similarly :-) ).
I wish I had pics, but I don't.
Regards,
Chris
