Lug nuts rusting. How do I prevent this?

I bead blasted the nust on my PW when I did the wheels over and now I am seeing some rust forming. It there a durable way to treat them to prevent this. I figured paint would just peel off after using a lug wrench. Any ideas? Thanks, Joe in NH
