Check for a small leak in the fuel line going to the fuel pump. It may be pulling air into the system when you try to do more than idle the motor. Another possibility is a piece of rubber fuel line after the fuel pump may be deteriorated so that a flap of rubber acts as a check valve when fuel pushes it too hard. I had this happen before in both cases at the same time - it was a bear to figure it all out.
