You are correct, if the oldest info I have and can remember is correct, the production for US sales ceased in 1968 but the export production carried on into 1971 for the WM300.
My understanding is that the L-head engine was not going to meet the coming planned emission control standards + possibly a couple other DOT safety regulations.
If the cash of PW parts as found in SE asia, could be found in other third world counties or by chance the tooling and dies for body parts could be found intact we would be set for life as even the parts trucks could be put into servicable condition.
