When I was in the Army and stationed in Korea in 1964, I was assigned a "Jeep" (M-38A1). Then we turned in all the "Jeeps" which were replaced with the M-151 MUTT (Military Utility Truck Tactical). Incidently, my M-151 was a Ford.
I was also assigned a new M-37B1.
As I pointed out in an earlier post, John Wayne was riding around in a M-151 in the WWII movie, "In Harm's Way" and calling it a "Jeep".
It was interesting to note that as late as 1981 I was being ordered to perform military duties in an M-151 even though they had been withdrawn from surplus sales. I guess I would have been less dead in an Army-owned M-151 than in a civilian-owned one.
