Mike, I am 100 percent confident that you are right concerning A-frame as opposed to gin poles but here in the Illinois Basin oil patch, gin poles refer to the A frame lifting poles mounted on many winch trucks. Its just the way it is right or wrong. If I went up to roughneck and said you know thats not really gin poles but a "A-frame", he'd laugh and stick my head in the mud pit.
