Last summer I had new tires/tubes put on my 59 W200. I had taken the tires off and taken them to the tire shop to have the work done (it was easier than trying to drive the truck that far).
When I got them home I realized that the valve stem was different-the old valve stem made an immediate right angle where it came through the rim. The new valve stem has about a 1/2 inch rise out of the rim and then makes a right angle. The difference makes the valve stem press hard against the rear brake drums and has caused one of them to start leaking.
My problem is that I don't know the correct terminology when I am talking to tire shops over the phone. Is there a specific term for the amount of rise that a valve stem has before it makes a right angle? Are the valve stems like I need even made anymore? If not, any suggestions for a solution?
Thanks!
