Absolutly, I would not turn on my setup without them. Also check them once in a while. I had been using a set for about 2 years. Took them off when I sent my torch in for rebuild. The check valves/flame arresters were both stuck open. I could blow either way through them with no effort.
New high end torches sometimes come with them built in. Make sure the ones you get are UL/FM approved. Ther is JUNK on the market. UL/FM approval is expensive to acquire and difficult to pass.
