How do you mean difference? If you mean acceleration then yes. More horsepower will give you better acceleration, but if you want more top speed, it won't do a thing for you unless you increase RPM. 3500 RPM if you have 70 horsepower or 3500 RPM with 80 horsepower will equal the same MPH with 5:83's. The only way to increase top speed is to install higher gearing. (Numerically lower) I wish that I could have 4:11's.
That way I could have good top end with good acceleration.
Keep it stock if you have to rebuild the engine. Change the axle ratios if you want more speed. Getting more horsepower won't help the top speed issue.
