Okay, I'm good to this point, but what about downshifting?

I'm having the opposite problem. I can't get the nack of down shifting. If I'm thinking logically, you in effect have to slow the rpm's down to downshift? Correct? How do you do that? Thanks in advance. By the way the posts above are great. I already see improvements I can make to improve my upshifting! Thanks guys.
