Make sure you have it un/bolted from under the dist, not just the bolt you see from the top that is easy to get to used for minor adjustments. By removing the cap you can grab the rotor and turn the shaft to un/mesh the gear from the camshaft when you pull up on it. If it is unbolted you should be able to spin it around while still in the block. You need to remove the bolt that is in the block to pull it. Mark H.
