Electrical box?

Under the dash on my 1951 FFPW is a 1/2" by 1/2" by 4" long (all dimensions approx)with two electrical wires coming out of the end of it. It looks original because the wires, which have been cut, are cloth wrapped. It is screwed to one of the dash supports with one screw. Any idea what this thing is?
