There was an article in miltary Vehicle mag about a year ago on the different multifuels. Given the date of 1963, I would bet that it's a LDT 427 not the newer LDT 467. (1c and 1D are newest) Those older engines were known for cylinder head issues and much smoke. I friend of mine had a good one and used several years without difficulty.
The M35 started much earlier (1950s) but was originally a gas burning vehicle. If these are LDT 427 or 467 s they should fit. There is a similar engine for the 5 ton trucks (LDS-467). These will fit a deuce but may overheat due to the smaller radiator in a duece. There are some floating around that are de-tuned by the military for the deuce.
Prices vary. A real good 467 1c can cost 2500. There are some other hercules military diesels out there for stationary power. I doubt they would readily fit many vehicles.
