When I did alignments in the 70's, if a chrysler was off we would adjust the ride height and usually that would bring the alignment right back into specs. Toe-in is the most critical adjustment for tire wear, and can cause such 'scuffing' that the tires are already in a skid, hence the poor handling. You can set the toe at home with a tape measure. Cranking the torsion bolts is a chore though, they are self-locking harder turning than you would think,unless you have a good impact gun.
