In the last two forums there was some discussion on Supplied Air Respirators. I bought one, and used it today to shoot Tam's
Model A Coupe. I bought a Neoterik from
www.autobodystore.com. The owner Len was very helpful in making my selection. The Neoterik Turbine Air Pump is shaped like a oversize football. The unit comes with 50 feet of heavy air hose and positive acting
hose fittings. I purchased the Hood Model
which fits on your head with a ratchet style head band. The air constantly entering the hood is cool and oder free. I placed the air pump outside behind the shop and ran the air line thru the exhaust port int he door with rags stuffed in the opening to seal off
shop/paint air. The hood turned with me, never causing a vision problem. Len did suggest the purchase of the optional swivel joint which mounts on the belt. This swivel allows the air line to turn and not knot up.
Then a short air line goes from the belt where it is retained to the hood.
When I shot the Bumblebee 2 years ago, knowing the dangers of the new paints, I opted to shoot outside with a cartridge respirator. I felt bad that night even tho I was outside. The cartridge respirators will not filter out ISO's. I knew better but took a chance. Now, tonight after shooting PPG Epoxy primer and PPG Surfacer primer, I feel great, never once smelling paint fumes. These new paints are simply to dangerous to use without supplied air respirators.
I have no interest in www.autobodystore.com other that Len is a great guy, most helpful to novice painters and the best price I found on the Neoterik which carries a NIOSH
rating.
I did keep a lot of room between the Model A and the Carryall, no funny stuff went on ha ha ha
