I am finally getting around to bolting down my wc-12 cab. These cabs were secured using one "hard" fastening point at one corner, and three spring loaded mounts on the other corners.

Problem is, the bolt now seems to short to go thru the body, the wood block, the metal mounting bracket and the two flatwashers, and I cannot get the thread started on the nut as the bolt is still inside the untensioned spring by about 1/2 " minimum..

I realize the design is to keep the body secure with the spring being under some amount of tension, but how does one get the bolt/nut started?

Any thoughts on how to compress that little spring in a way so I can get enough thread showing to get the nut started? The spring is rather stout for is size. It is not easily compressed.

Any idea? Anyone else ever run arcoss this?
Do Civy powerwagons use the same setup?

Its a shame not to use the corect original bolts, which I was able to save. But, I may just discard them an go buy longer bolts, and just drill holes for the cotter pins after I have the corners bolted down...

Or just get id of the springs altogether and"hard" fasten all four corners?
