I may be wrong, but I don't think you can legally swap in an engine that is older than your truck, unless the truck is exempt from smog inspection; as of now, the cutoff year is 1973, I believe. Here is the way I understand the regulations on engine swaps: the engine being installed must be of the same year or newer, and have all of the required California smog equipment for the year of the vehicle, or the year of the engine, whichever is newer. The installation would have to be approved at a state "Referee" station, before it could be registered. Based on this, you could not register or license the truck with the 413 in it. Were it my project, I'd stick with the 360; no headaches.
