As reported earlier, I drove my m-37 last week in a parade, then parked it. When I tried to start it a few days later, it would not start. (cranks fast, no fires at all)
I think this is an electrical problem but I an not sure of the origin.
It was suggested I look at the points when cranking to see if there was a small spark there. I can report that there is no visible spark (ignition on of course)
You can see the points opening and closing as the motor cranks. Also, I unscrewed the lead wire off one plug and I did not see a spark to ground there either.
I didn't meaure the spark gap because this is hard to do unless the distributor is removed. I will do that if people suggest that this is still the most likely problem. I could see that the points have a build up on one side (the side that moves), I filed this down but no change.
Is there a place to check the low tension electrical feed to the distributor/coil?
As mentioned earlier, when the ignition switch is on, I see the deflection on the voltmeter....so I am assuming the problem is not with that switch.
Thanks....all help gratefully appreciated!
