We had a 2000 Neon and the only problem I had with the car is it needed to hold about 5 more gallons of gas. It was a great car! Road good, handled good, got good MPG and had plenty of power for getting on the freeways. We test drove all the other small cars and the Neon was the last car we drove. I did not even consider the Neon and I am a Dodge guy. The old ladys dad suggested it and 3 minutes after I was in the Neon I said WOW! I like it!
The Escort was so so.
The Cavalier was a POS Deluxe.
The Saturn road nice and did have the most Power but was hard to get in and out of and more money.
We already had a Honda Prelude SI. Although the core of the vehicle is still good (engine/tranny)all the small items on it are falling apart.
As for frames on Dodge trucks you better look again. My 95 Ram 1500 has a frame comparable to my 74 D200 (Last of the heavy weights) and the new Ram's are very impressive underneath! Go to you dealership and crawl under! They make my old 74 D200 look like a half ton and that truck will work all day long overloaded and it has a GVWR of 9000lbs.
As for getting their act together in 94 the 89-93 Cummins trucks is what set the industry on its ear and drew the line in the sand! The old Ford Diesel and the Chevy 6.2 wasnt doing anything special!
