The more time you spend with a puddy knife, long screw driver etc, digging off the crud on the frame, will be well spent. I just did my Carryall frame the other day. It was really loaded with greasy crud. I took 2 days just digging stuff off. Then the actual blasting was done in 3 1/2 hours with only 4 bags of Black Beauty. The crud will act like a shock absorber to the blast media and require a lot more. I am using a presure blaster at 150# and Medium Black Beauty for the Frame. It looks great now.
This weekend the frame will get PickleX-20,
PPG Epoxy Primer, PPG 2K Surfacer Primer and then Hardned PPG Frame Black. The resulting finish will be almost forever.
