Most people look to find ways to produce more power rather than salvaging or retrieving lost power from the gross hp listed on the WM300 doorpost. The net hp (the available hp after all the losses are subtracted and is also on the doorpost) can be increased fairly easily and inexpensively. Approx. 50% of power loss occures from the exhaust system flow restriction, 25% from the cooling (waterpump-fan-and thermal inefficency, 5% friction, and 20% is due from intake restriction and overall volumetricinefficency. A CSI electric water pump for the 440 adapted to the existing housing and electric fan would recover possibly 10-15hp. Drop in a allison (points & condenser replacement) optical electronic unit for better firing and better startups in cold weather.
These are just a couple of things to try but try to retrieve as much lost hp first then work on trying to produce more hp.
