There is a very simple reason that vintage/collector car insurance companies charge very different rates than do daily driver car ins cos: the coverage is NOT the same and limitation of use is huge. Talking to insurance agents about the limits of coverage is very dicey - they will get their commission whether or not their verbal advise matches the written policy terms. I have yet to see a collector car policy which does not severely limit use - most will not provide any coverage if you wreck on the way to the 7-11 when there is no parade in sight. These policy exclusions mean no coverage - no coverage means no legal defense, no settlement money, etc.
Bottom line: you will be left to twist in the wind if you buy a policy with use restrictions and you wreck when operating your truck outside of those restrictions, and taking the word of a voice on the phone could have tragic consequences on your pocket book.
