I've flat-towed my M37 over 200 miles with no problems. Remove the driveshafts or axles. cap 'em to keep the oil in. Use a military tow bar attached to the towing shackles. Go easy around sharp corners and have a co-driver in case the wheels go opposite. sometimes they do that, but as soon as you straigten out it will follow fine. Dont forget the parking brake!
Use a 3/4 ton or bigger tow vehicle. DO NOT use a 1/2 ton. M37s weigh 6000 lbs. It will push a 1/2 ton around all day.
I tow with a '97 3/4 ton Dodge Ram 4x4 V-10 and I have no problems.
Of course if your truck is not licensed you may get a ticket. sometimes the cops won't bother you. But it is against the law. If it's on a trailer you're ok legally.
I finally got a tandem axle 7000 lb trialer just to save wear and tear on the M37. for $1200 it is definatley worth it.
