Mark,
No site seems to be "fool" proof, I think any one building one of these trucks with the thought of having it "original" is dreaming, most of the posts state that they have had to get two or three "parts trucks" so are the parts they took off of the parts trucks original to the built truck? I think that if we have the money to indulge in this insananty we should have the right to put it together any way we want to. I have managed to keep my truck all Dodge for the minute however it no longer has the original engine, axles, bumpers, transmission or some of the original body parts. Most of the upgrades are for my convenince or safety, disk brakes, four speed automatic and so on, as most of the trucks on this forum it is a work in progress with me making the decisions as to what I want or do not want, of course some of the decisions are based on State smog laws and what has to be on the truck. I think that you took a pile of pieces and put it together as to what a vision of what you felt was the way it would have been built if you could order it that way. Well as you can see I am responding to your rant with a rant of my own. We can all admire a truck which looks as if it came off the show room floor in 1953 but do any of us wish to drive one on a daily basis? There have been a few improvements some good and some bad over the years and it is nice to take advantage of some of them. So I hope you are able to get the truck you need to haul your hay and a toy to play with for my money I am setting up the 74 to do all as a haul and a toy. Keep up the good work and do not get discouraged with those who wish a standard seat. And as I recall with my old 60 after three hundred miles I needed to be pryed out of the seat and strightened.
