Bought this 1947-48 Willy's Jeep to Part out???

I think it is a 47-48 Pickup. Problem is the rear end is different than I have seen befor. Not like a regular one it can be seperated in the middle of the housing with a ring of bolts instead of like on a PW with the differetial bolting in from the front. Any ideas as to the year ser# 4WD 26812 with a flat head 4 cylinder in it. Books say 1948 but the rear end is strange to me. Neat little Pickup and much more complete than my PW was, in fact it is all there even the original key but missing the tail light. Mark H.
