I have a 42 Carryall WC 53 in which I have put a 2 speed transfer case. It originally had a single speed T case. I purchased a set of transfer case mounts from a WC 63 (6X6)and they bolted right to my frame. I then bought a Transfer case from a WM300 PW. I had to put 2" extensions onto the transfer case mounts to lower the Transfer case 2" to allow for the emergency brake drum. The floor for the WC 53 is not cut to allow for it. I also moved the rear drive shaft to the center output of the T Case as I have a centered rear axle. The rear drive line will need to be shortened and the front drive line is OK. You also have to get a yoke that is designed to bolt to the E Brake drum. I took one off the original transmission that came with my parts truck. My setup works great. Moving the output to the center has reduced a lot of noise from the T Case. I have a spare centered rear axle and I will put it on my Civilian PW. There has got to be a lot less wear and tear and noise by using the center output.
