I've used a towbar to relocate my M37 several times. The longest distance was 1200 miles. The kicker on this is I towed it with a Ford C-600. When I tried to tow the M37 with a pick-up it took over all control and would start to jack knife my pick-up at speeds as low as 5 mph when I applied the brakes.
To ease the M37 steering issue, I used a motorcycle tiedown strap to secure the M37 steering wheel in a semi-locked position.
My biggest lesson in this was the first time I towed my M37 I ruined the transmission because I figured that since I was only moving it about 45 miles I could leave the drive shafts connected. Towing it at speeds below 50 mph, still turned the synchronizers into brass fillings, totally removing any pretense that I had a partially synchronized transmission to begin with.
